Statistics show that each year more than 3.5 million children, 14 years of age and younger suffer injuries while playing sports or participating in recreational activities, and many of these injuries involve the teeth, mouth and face. Using any mouthguard for protection is step in the right direction.
However, “off the shelf” mouthguards may be uncomfortable making it harder to breath easily and therefore being discarded or used less frequently. The dentist can custom build a mouthguard, fitted to your teeth and gums, providing maximum comfort and extra protection. Call us to learn more about a custom-made sports mouthguard for your child.

Out in the Community!
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month! In efforts to improve our community’s oral health, Dr. Varughese and Dr. Dhake have not only been treating patients in the office, but also spreading the message good oral health through community groups.
Dr. Varughese provided clients of the Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse an oral health presentation with tips on better brushing, flossing and diet recommendations. The group had some great questions regarding dry mouth from medications and when to visit the dentist. She looks forward to spending more time with the Clubhouse members and would like to thank Renata Slayton for the opportunity.
Dr. Dhake recently visited two sites of Gads Hill Center and shared tips and tools to 70 kids ages 5 to 12 years old on good oral hygiene and importance of visiting the dentist. The kids practiced on model teeth flossing techniques and got to feel different dental instruments used at the office. Thanks to the team at Gads Hill for the opportunity. We look forward to working with them in the future.

As the year comes to a close, we are ready to embrace 2011. We are ready for the new year with a fresh coat of paint on our exam room walls, freshly waxed floors, and a new addition to our reception area.
A Little bit of “Chicago” in the Reception Area
Please come visit us and admire our newest piece of art that is adorning our reception room. “Chicago,” painted by talented local artist Jeff A. Maldonado, was created celebrating family, community, and what we love about our hometown. For more information about the artist, click here: http://www.18artjam.com/.

If you have visited or driven by our office, you may have noticed a big change to our building. On July 21st, early morning, there was an accident. A car drove through our front wall and destroyed our waiting room. Thankfully no one got hurt and no one was in the office at the time. The local news even picked up on it.
As a result of this, we will have to rebuild the front and side faces of Complete Care Dental. Our contractors have sealed off the front building and created a temporary front door on the side of the building for patients. We were able to re-open Thursday, July 31.
We are in the process of finalizing the design, and hope to complete construction within 2-3 months. Please visit again for updates.
We thank all of you, our patients, for your well wishes, and apologize for the hassles caused by the construction.
